MEET CHET
Young Leadership Driven By Our Founding Principles
My name is Chet Billi. I am running as a Republican to represent Whitefish in the Montana House of Representatives. I am a fiscal, social, and Constitutional Conservative.
I've lived in Whitefish for 14 years. I attended the Whitefish School system from pre-school to high school. I graduated from Whitefish in June, 2016. I was born in Alaska where my father and I run a commercial fishing boat in the summers.
I'm running for office because it was an opportunity presented to me that I just couldn't pass up. I've enjoyed politics most of my life. I discussed the 2008 presidential election with my 4th grade teacher and debated my teacher about global warming (now known as climate change) in 6th grade. I continued to stand up for myself and my conservative peers in classroom all through high school.
My Junior year, I sponsored a ballot initiative that would have allowed school employees with valid permits to carry concealed weapons on school grounds. Instead of the same old solution to leave school children helpless, I wanted to ensure the safety of my brother, my sister, and my friends. Glass and signs won't stop a madman or a terrorist, but an armed teacher will.
I've wanted to enlist in the Army and become a Ranger since Middle School. I was talking to recruiters throughout my senior year. When the opportunity to run for office presented itself, I knew that the fight for freedom had moved onto the domestic front.
I hope you will join me in this fight for our culture, our values, and our quality of life. It can disappear so fast by electing the wrong people, and I wanted to give ourselves a better option.
What Do I Stand For?
-
Small Government
-
Individual liberty is the key to prosperity. Government rations will not give you a good life, but hard work and individual responsiblity will.
-
Government's role is to secure our rights and ensure equal opportunity, nothing more.
-
-
Subsidiarity
-
Subsidiarity is the governing principle that the most important decisions should be made at the smallest levels of government. You and I know what we need, government employees 3,000 miles away do not.
-
-
State Sovereignty
-
Iron-fisted central governments have historically been the bane of prosperity. Each state has it's own culture, it's own values, it's own way of life. We The People have such a great voice in our state governments. This is where our power lies, and we should protect that power.
